This month we will try to set a high-score for Sprite Invaders.
Entering the competition is easy, here is what you have to do:
* Play the game and make a picture of your full screen when reaching a personal high-score.
* Make sure the high-score is clear to see.
* Enter the competition by posting your screenshot in this topic.
* If you improve on your high-score, you can enter a new high-score as many times as needed.
* Be honest! We prefer you use original hardware and do not make use of cheats or save states. If original hardware isn’t possible, emulation is accepted. But again: be honest!
You can enter the competition right up till the last day, right up till midnight (your local time).
There's some sort of scoring bug within the game, unfortunately. I played this game a few times earlier today and saw I lost points for no real reason. I'll upload the videos tomorrow to YouTube.

Hi, marco1019. Thanks for the info! Not a very good start for me! Would be very interested in seeing the video.

Well we haven't started yet, and the game is brand new so nobody could possibly have known this. Good job on finding that out Marco ! Not all games are suited for competition, there are often issues on the competition on the other forum as well. They can include score whoring, built in cheats, no time to take a picture of the score, buggy, too easy/ looping games with no progression, and so on.

I've been playing 'Sprite Invaders' today and I found that when you shoot the bonus spaceship that flies across the top of the screen, you either gain or lose a random amount of points. I might be wrong, but I think this is part of the game and not an error? On the title screen it says that shooting the bonus spaceship = mystery points. What do you think guys? Should we continue with the high-score challenge?
P.S. The game ran really nice on my original hardware with no problems whatsoever.

I've think figured out the scoring bug: if you hit the saucer and it takes you past a thousand digit it fails to add that digit, so don't hit the saucer if the hundreds in your score is between 7 and 9 inclusive. I'll be streaming this tonight at 7pm GMT for anyone interested. I'll probably play this for half an hour or so then play the new 512K cartridge game Soul Force for the remainder of the hour
