I've been spending some time turning my collection of floppy disks, which I've had since the 80s, into D64s for archiving. As I've been going through my backups in VICE (to make sure they're working okay) there's a feature that I wish VICE would implement into their emulator. You know how you can attach cover art to your MP3s, so when your playing the song in your media player, it displays the embedded CD cover art? I'd really like to have that ability with my D64s within VICE.
The closest that I've seen this feature implemented is over at CommodoreServer.com. When you upload your disk images to your account, you have the option of attaching a thumbnail image to the D64. Like this:
I'd like to be able to add images of the actual disks from my collection to the D64s that I'm creating from them. I wonder how difficult this would be to implement in our favorite emulator software.
If you are running on a Mac, there is a QuickLook filter you can use to view a .d64 directory easily. Just tap the spacebar on .d64 and voila! Go to my site www.imacommodork.com/tools.html and under plugins there are links to them.

Thanks for the tip. I don't use Apple products, but still good to mention for those who do.
You can do something similar in VICE. when you select a disk image you can see the directory before "attaching" it. But, in case I wasn't being clear, what I would like to do is attach the JPEG of the photo of the actual physical floppy disk to the D64 file (which you can see in the right-hand margin of the screenshot above).
Something like this mockup... The picture of the floppy disk to the right of the directory listing is what I'd like to see.
